date : 2/21/2014

On Wednesday, February 19, HGPI’s Chairman, Dr. Kiyoshi Kurokawa, met with government officials in health affairs from GUAM, a regional forum for support and dialogue created by Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova, to discuss and exchange opinions on healthcare policy.
Medical care was the theme for this meeting, the seventh in a series of workshops organized by the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development-GUAM.Participants presented on healthcare cost, quality, and access in their respective countries. They also discussed strategic approaches in addressing the increased prevalence of non-communicable diseases in an aging society, the future of the healthcare workforce, and the utilization of medical IT. A joint research opportunity between GUAM member states and Japan was suggested at the meeting. Through these types of collaborations, we are hopeful that the relationship between Japan and GUAM member states will continue to grow.
