(Announcement) Notice of President and Board Member Changes
date : 6/30/2014
The Board of Directors of Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) held a meeting on June 27, 2014 where it was decided that Mr. Kohei Onozaki will become a board member and the President of HGPI starting on July 1, 2014. Mr. Onozaki previously served as the Vice President of HGPI between 2007 and 2010. He has returned to HGPI to contribute his leadership to the strengthening of HGPI and its activities. The outgoing President, Mr. Hikaru Ishiguro, will continue to contribute to HGPI as a board member.
In regards to Mr. Onozaki’s appointment, the Chairman of HGPI Dr. Kiyoshi Kurokawa remarked, “Kohei Onozaki not only has experience as a leader of this Institute, he brings with him abundant experience from the global corporate world and a wide network of international stakeholders. I am certain that, with his management and public health expertise, Onozaki will contribute to the success of HGPI while strengthening Japanese civil society and serving as a model for non-profit management.”
Additionally, the Commission on Citizens and Health (CCH) ended operations at the end of June 2014. Mr. Kenichi Hanioka resigned as the board member and the head of CCH.
We hope to continue to contribute to cancer control and advocacy policy through HGPI’s Health Policy Unit’s non-communicable disease (NCD) policy projects.
With a renewed structure, we will continue to work to develop and strengthen Japanese civil society. Your continued support of HGPI is sincerely appreciated.
