HGPI hosted a Breakfast Meeting featuring Dr. Yasuharu Tokuda, a head of
the Choosing Wisely Japan, to discuss about “Choosing Wisely,” a campaign in which self-driven medical doctors aim to adjust overmedication.
“Choosing Wisely” is a campaign
in which self-driven medical doctors aim to adjust overmedication. It
was started in 2011 by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
Foundation and the movement has rapidly spread to 17 countries,
including Japan. By revising unnecessary medical tests and prescribed
medications, it is expected to reduce healthcare cost as well as to
improve quality of healthcare.
Dr. Tokuda presented the latest campaign of Choosing Wisely, including those in US and Canada, as well as the approach being tried in Japan.
His speech is available on the Youtube in the following. (*Please note that this event was held only in Japanese )
