AMR Alliance Japan (Secretariat: Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI)) has released a policy recommendations, “Setting Appropriate Outcome Indices in the Next AMR Action Plan.”
The Japanese government enacted the “National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance 2016-2020 (NAP 2016-2020)” in April 2016. With the period of that plan now ended, AMR Alliance Japan convened a meeting of experts to discuss the outcome indices of the previous plan and how they might be revised for a future National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (the “next NAP”). This discussion led to the recommendations described below.
AMR Alliance Japan’s recommendations consist of three sections. First, the recommendations provide an overview of the outcome indices and corresponding numerical targets used for the NAP 2016 – 2020. Second, the recommendations present an intellectual framework for setting outcome indices and numerical targets in the next NAP. Third, based on the aforementioned framework, specific outcome indices are suggested for the human, animals, food, and environmental sectors.
AMR Alliance Japan hopes that these recommendation will serve as a reference for the creation of a new NAP in Japan in the future.
